We were thrilled when we saw a Canadian stop on Future Palace’s North American tour. I’ve been following them since their album “Distortion” came out, which I realize hasn’t been that long but listening back through their discography, their sound has really evolved into a polished blend of post-hardcore and metalcore.
Playing for over an hour straight with little break, I was blown away by Maria’s vocals. Even songs that I assumed would only ever be album tracks, were to my surprised played.
For a first show in Toronto, Future Palace packed out Lee’s Palace. The amount of FP merch I saw people wearing only confirms my belief this band has deep roots with their fanbase and I’m confident they are going to be big.

It was really inspiring to see Maria talk about the themes behind some of their songs. Ranging from topics like mental health and loving someone who has depression in “Decarabia” to gender equality of “The Echos of Disparity,” it’s apparent this band has something to say and isn’t afraid to shout it from the stage.
Future Palace is a post-hardcore band from Berlin, Germany. Formed in 2018, the band consists of vocalist Maria Lessing, guitarist Manuel Kohlert, and drummer Johannes Frenzel.
