Hot on the heels of the much awaited debut EP Depth Perception, Rune is back with a fresh new single Serpentine.
Serpentine opens with saturated, reverb-heavy vocals and pulsing electronic synths, a staple of her previous releases. The first half of the track is eerily similar to what you’d hear in a Lights song (another great Canadian artist). Her vocal lines float effortlessly overtop of the instruments. That is until your hit in the face with a big drum fill followed by a hard-hitting breakdown.
Why we’re a fan of Rune is because we’re firm believers in artists that make opportunities happen for themselves. After a chance meeting with Keaton from Invent Animate outside of a venue, Rune sent some of her new material to him for critique. Clearly the tracks must have resonated with him, because he set up a meeting with her and UNFD, which she later signed with. And now, the rest of the history has yet to write itself.
