Formerly known as WHOISRUNE, Rune is a multi-genre music artist based in Toronto, Canada. Over the years, her sound has evolved from synth-pop and EDM-inspired tracks to heavy alt-rock instrumentals, layered with the same distinct soft, ethereal vocals.
With the release of her debut UP “Depth Perception,” a 6-track alternative metal album released by UNFD in November 2025, rune held her debut performance of the lastest tracks February 21st, 2026 to a sold out crowd at the Rivoli.
The haze machine starts to go off covering three guys standing on stage knee deep in fog, waiting as the backing track starts to play. The anticipation was so great it’s almost suspenseful, as everyone awaited for Rune to step out onto the stage to start her debut performance. Then, she appears, walks up to the microphone and launches into Hostage, the first song off the EP. Soft ethereal vocals echo overtop of downtuned guitars as the quartet on stage serenaded the audience, standing shoulder to shoulder in the packed room.
Rune was later joined on stage by Mike Parsram, during the song Erode. The rest, well, I’m not going give everything away, you’ll just have to go experience it in person.
But we can say one thing for sure, there’s a good reason Rune made it onto our 2026 Artists to Watch list in False Chord Magazine Issue 1.
